Best Game Intro Ever?

The embedded video has to be one of or maybe even THE most intense and awesome game intro I've ever seen. It's from a game called Left 4 Dead where you play one of four survivors fighting off hoards of scary running zombies. You can also play co-op online and offline with three other people and even as one of the special zombies, so I can hardly wait to get this game. I've already played the PC demo through 3 times with different difficulty levels, and 3/4 through with the hardest level before the demo time limit expired. This weekend I plan on finishing that unfinished business by playing in co-op mode with a friend on his 360. Awesome!

Psi-Ops: The Schwarzenegger Conspiracy

The title is the title of my newest video, put together in a few days quite spontaneously, just like my previous video called BioShock Chose the REALLY Impossible and Star Wars Battlefront: Darth Vader Just Got Owned! As the name suggest, it’s from the game known as Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, which you can download for the PC absolutely free and legally from Fileplanet. While playing this wonderful game, I managed to record some strange bugs and other random funny moments, which I decided to put together to be accompanied by immortal movie quotes from Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. I found these audio quotes from this website through this wonderful YouTuber who specializes in making hilarious celebrity prank phone calls. Anyways the result video should be something that everyone finds to be funny at least at some level, unless there’s something seriously wrong with your sense of humor :D!

5 New RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 videos!

It's been a busy summer (a one week trip to New York among other things), but as the title suggests, I've finally managed to complete 5 new RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 videos =)! Although the catch is that it's actually one video divided into 5 part due to YouTube's time limit :P! Well anyways all five parts are viewable below, but I highly recommend watching them at YouTube using the High quality setting.

You can also download the park featured in these videos as four saved games in one zip file using the FileFront link below. Later on I'll also add an option to download the whole video as one continuous presentation.

Six Flags Great Adventure Music Video

As a final closure to the Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction series that ended last Friday, and as a continuation to the music video streak started with Batman & Robin: The Chiller, I’m posting this great music video I found. It’s got lots of really nice footage of the rides, shows and most rollercoaster in the park set to “Emergency” by Paramore. At the bottom is also a playlist of all the videos featured in this series and above a nice panorama view of the park, which can be found in its original huge state here. Enjoy =), and I’ll see you guys again some other time.

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Bonus

The next and last rollercoaster in this series is a yet another super-hero themed and a very unique one called Batman & Robin: The Chiller. Unfortunately it was closed last year due to consistent problems, and was replaced by The Dark Knight Coaster introduced last time. Build is 1997 Batman & Robin: The Chiller was the first ever dueling LIM (Linear Induction Motor) launched lopping rollercoaster, but it suffered various technical problems from the start and was therefore closed for most of its opening season. Those problems didn’t however keep this crazy awesome coaster from gaining big popularity among coaster enthusiasts, and earning a permanent place in their and even many ordinary park goers’ hearts. I myself am absolutely certain that I would have enjoyed this ride much more than its successor The Dark Knight Coaster, and am quite sad of its demolishing. Therefore instead of the usual wind gushing on-ride video, I’m blogging a rather emotional music video (embedded below), which consists of still photos, and both on-ride and off-ride video footage. I do however hope that the semi similar rivalry between the movies of the same name ends up with The Dark Knight getting a massive victory over Batman & Robin dubbed the worst Batman movie ever.

Batman & Robin: The Chiller is - or rather was a launched dueling coaster, where both tracks, named Batman and Robin of course, went through slightly different inversions, up a hill and back the same route to the station. Since the LIM’s used up so much energy, simultaneous launches became impossible quickly after the grand opening, and since the ride has often operated with only one train running, usually Robin which was more reliable. Both trains were accelerated to 70 miles per hour using the LIM, and then used to speed to negotiate a vertical slope. Then Robin went through a cobra roll, while Batman did a top hat inversion ending up side by side facing the direction they came from. Both tracks did a zero-g roll and went up the final spike, which had another set if LIM’s at the top. These LIM’s gave the trains the necessary speed to go backwards through the same inversions and reach the station. Both zero-g rolls were removed early last year, since whenever the spike LIM’s failed, it was quite likely that the train would stall. Batman swept through the 1137 feet of track and 140 foot drop in 32 seconds, while Robin used 48 seconds to navigate a 105 foot drop and 1229 feet of track.

Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase

People who know what the title of this post means, can probably guess that the Untitled Classic Game Project I mentioned in my previous Sneak Peaks post is now complete. The rare 90’s game I was talking about, is a board game like crazy and funny little strategy game called Dr. Drago’s Madcap Chase, which was published by Bluebyte in 1995/1997 (depending on source). Since absolutely no footage whatsoever from this funny little game exists on YouTube (at least to my knowledge), I wanted to do my part in bringing this game to public awareness, and therefore now present a 55 minute 10 round duel game edited into 22 minutes to show its highlights. So just basic gameplay and nothing that special, but I hope you still enjoy this rare classic. More info on the game’s goals etc. can be found in the video description of both parts.

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 13

It seems like a good idea to give up hope on someone posting a proper on-ride video of the parks newest rollercoaster The Dark Knight Coaster so soon after its opening, so this and an upcoming bonus introduction won’t get delayed any further. Luckily I have found a few videos in which the whole ride is photographed with a backward facing camera provided by the park. In my opinion the best of those can be found here and embedded below. You should also check out this official promotion video, since it has footage of the ride’s Dark Knight movie themeing and queue area. So the Dark Knight Coaster is the park’s newest ride and it opened just three weeks ago. As you can see from the video, it’s an enclosed ride with cars that look like Gotham City Rail cars. This Wild Mouse rollercoaster travels the 1213 feet long twisting and turning steel track full of sudden drops and unbaked sharp turns, with a maximum height of 45 feet, in two minutes and reaches a top speed of 30 miles per hour. So the ride will definitely be wild even though the stats are nothing compared to the big rollercoasters.

The ride and especially the queue area are heavily themed with props and effects from the movie and Batman’s hometown. Things like a TV screen, where you can see yourself and your friends wearing Joker masks, entertain the guests as they wait in line. The Joker can also be seen during the ride in several hallucinations and even lurking in the structures of the ride. This notorious jokester also wreaks havoc in a several minute long pre-show presentation, which gives some insight in to the movie premiering this July. The general consensus of the Dark Knight Coaster seems to be disappointment in its shortness and lack of intensity, but I believe it will be a fun and surprising experience, when you don’t expect it to feature massive high speed drops or inversions, but instead unseen drops and turns, the excitement of darkness, and a strong versatile themeing. I have yet to find a proper or good sized picture from inside the ride, and have to settle for a medium sized outdoor photo (above), but several small sized construction photos are available, and also a video, which features some on-ride footage too.

New One Must Fall Video Finally Ready!

Since my rollercoaster introduction series still has to be on ice due to the fact that no on-ride video from the newest rollercoaster has yet been uploaded to Youtube, I decided to release a new self-made video instead (embedded below)!

It’s the long-awaited third part to my OMF2097: Secret Characters of the Secret Master’s Tourney series (playlist embedded below), and it features lots of cool stuff and that weren’t in the first two, all thanks to the Sony Vegas editing software. It has some funny comments too and stuff that aren't really possible in the game. I hope you enjoy and stay tuned, because my next new self-made vid is coming soon.

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 12

Once again next up is one of the slower rollercoaster of the park… Or actually the slowest of them all. Built in 1999, Road Runner Railway is a slow family coaster designed mostly for children, so adults are not allowed to ride unless they’re accompanied by a child less than 54 inches tall. So if I or any of my friends want to ride it, we’ll have to lure a shorty to accompany us, perhaps with some treats :D! The end result will probably lead to the park jail for at least questioning, so I don’t recommend it unless one of us wants to get to know the US justice system up close and personal :D!

Road Runner Railway is such a low intensity ride, that info on its top speed isn’t available, but fortunately some other statistics can be found. It has the shortest train of all the rollercoasters in the park with only six cars. The train rises up to an astonishing height of ten feet and goes around the 280 feet long track twice in 40 seconds, whoop-di-doo. Still Road Runner Railway has been described as a particularly rough ride, especially for adults, which probably has something to do with its limited leg room. Anyways we’ll probably pass up on this ride, but hey, at least that’ll leave more time for other fun stuff! On the other hand, no on-ride video exists on YouTube or Google, so maybe that could be a suitable challenge for us :D?

Spartans...

...Tonight we dine in hell! Guess what movie that immortal quote is from? Yup, Frank Miller’s 300 and tonight we dine on videos related to that awesome movie. First up is the spectacular trailer embedded below.

Rarely have I seen such an awesome trailer, so it’s no wonder the audio from that version has been used to make adaptations such as the astonishing Simpsons 300 Trailer below…

…and my most recent discovery, Ron Burgundy is the King of Sparta, which is from the hilarious comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, which I recently purchased.

Next up is 300 World of Warcraft, a WoW adaptation of the same trailer, which is pretty cool too.

The next one is called 300 Trailer- Best Parody EVER, and as the name says, it's a parody of the same trailer. Funny stuff and really well made.

Last but not least is an old favorite, This is SPARTA!!!-techno song, a really funny techno version of the infamous kicking scene. This is SPARTAAAAAA!!!

In hopes of more similar videos, I created a playlist for all these 300 related videos as seen embedded below.

First "MY RCT2" Video Complete

I have finally completed the first of many RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 projects, which I mentioned earlier. It’s called My RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 Ghost Town and is divided into three parts because of its length:

My RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 Ghost Town (Part 1/3)
My RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 Ghost Town (Part 2/3)
My RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 Ghost Town (Part 3/3)

Everything you need to know about these videos is in the video descriptions. I highly recommend watching them in high quality (red circles in the picture above), but unfortunately for some unknown reason the audio volume level sometimes changes rapidly. Since choosing between high and low quality is a rather new feature on YouTube, I certainly hope this is just a bug which will be fixed soon. In the meantime you can download the original video from FileFront in one continuous high quality presentation without any audio problems.
My RCT2 Ghost Town
These RollerCoaster Tycoon videos are only for those who are at least somewhat interested in the game genre or subject, so if you aren’t interested at all, please refrain from giving the 1-3 stars I know some of you want to give, and instead for example watch my newest smash hit Star Wars Battlefront: Darth Vader Just Got Owned! (magenta outlines in the first picture), which has already gathered 13 thousand views and achieved the status of 8th most viewed and 5th most discussed of all my videos, FUCK YEAH =)!

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 11

The superhero theme continues with Batman: The Ride, an inverted steel rollercoaster opened in 1993 which resembles the Tornado rollercoaster at Särkänniemi, Finland. Besides the size and form the main difference between the two is that where in Tornado each car has two rows of two seats, Batman accommodates four rides in the only row of each car. Batman: The Ride climbs up 23 feet higher than Tornado up to 105 feet and picks up a top speed of 50 miles per hour being only 4.4 mph faster. Tornado is approximately 400 feet shorter and takes 25 seconds less to complete, but both of them have five inversions. In Batman’s case, two loops, two corkscrews and one zero-g roll.

But since everything is bigger in the US – including rollercoaster’s building budgets – Batman: The Ride’s surrounding and queue area are littered with scenery from the world of Batman and the Batman movie. Music from the film can also be heard in the queue are, so even queuing won’t be boring at all. But the queue area might become a bit too familiar, since Batman: The Ride will probably be one of my favorites because of it’s likeness with Tornado. On the other hand may time bigger rides, like Nitro seen in the background of picture above, will probably steal most of the focus since something like them can’t be experienced in Finland.

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 10

Next up is Skull Mountain, the only enclosed rollercoaster in the park at the moment. Because of it’s enclosed status, Skull Mountain very much resembles a rollercoaster called Linnunrata (Finnish for Milky Way), in the Linnanmäki amusement park. Both of them feature sound effects and strobe lights, but due to fear of epileptic seizures, the strobe lights were removed from Skull Mountain some time ago. Therefore the ride takes place in total darkness, so in order to see anything beforehand; I chose a video shot when the (normal) lights were on.

Opened in 1996, with the lights on Skull Mountain is one of the more mellow rollercoasters in Six Flags Great Adventure, but with the lights out the intensity is probably a lot higher, especially for first timers. Since Skull Mountain is enclosed, it is the park’s only rollercoaster which operates even during thunderstorms, when all the other coasters are closed and of course also during rainstorms, when the more than ten times taller Kingda Ka is closed. Skull Mountain rises only 41 feet, but manages to reach a top speed of 33 miles per hour. It has a length of 1337 feet and takes a bit over two minutes to complete.

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 9

Next up is one of the parks many rides that are based on a cartoon or comic character or series. Built in 2003, Superman: Ultimate Flight is painted red-blue-yellow, just the colors that the man of steel likes to dress up in. The riding position is designed to imitate flight, so the train travels beneath the track and guests ride in a lay-down position when the restraints are lifted into their horizontal position.

And so begins a climb up to 115 feet, followed by a plunge of 100 feet achieving a top speed of 51 miles per hour, winding through two inversion and several turns a total of 2759 feet for approximately two minutes. One of the inversions is a pretzel loop, which means beginning from the top and doing a downward loop where top speed is achieved while passengers are laying on their backs. The name of the pretzel loops comes from the fact, that it resembles a pretzel from a certain angle. Now that would be a serious challenge: Eating a pretzel while going through a pretzel loop, especially due to the fact that bringing food onto rides is probably forbidden :D!

Sneak Peaks

I’ve been meaning to do this ever since I started this blog. That is to blog sneak peaks of my upcoming videos. Since it’s been so long, I’ve got snapshots from seven projects and info about a total of thirteen. First up is the one which is probably my most anticipated video ever.

Need for Speed Most Wanted: Stupid Cops 2 Project

This is actually two projects or possibly even three, since I’m going to make a trailer and possibly leave out about half of the whole length to make Stupid Cops 3. First a few words about the trailer. It’s going to be a sort of remake of the introduction video from the post-nuclear role playing game called Fallout 2. You might have noticed that already on my Trailershow video, which featured a teaser of Stupid Cops 2. The full length trailer will be full of images made with Adobe Photoshop (like the picture below) to mimic the Fallout 2 intro and of course some video footage from the finished product.

The actual Stupid Cops 2 video takes place in the Challenge Series event number 68, where you have to stay in pursuit for 30 minutes and then evade the police. So its going to be very long (approx. 15 or 30 minutes depending on if I decide to split it into Stupid Cops 3 or not), but I guarantee that if you understand English, comprehend some pop culture references and have a good sense of humor, you won’t be bored at all. Because of the long length it also takes A LOT of time and effort to complete, so it might take as long as until the first Stupid Cops video’s 2 year completion anniversary on November 17th. So far I’ve added a lot of stuff to Stupid Cops 2, including reversed, slowed and sped up music, and sound effects from The Simpson, Star Wars and Loony Tunes. And of course there will be a lot of wacky comments (picture below).

Multiple RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 Projects

Since trying a recording program called HyperCam, I’ve had the urge to post videos from videogames that I haven’t been able to record before, such as RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. Over the years I’ve spent countless hours, days and weeks playing this wonderful game building massive amusement parks with tons of custom built rollercoasters, and am going to share those creations with the world in the near future. I’m planning to release videos from a total of seven different parks, and at least five of them are going to have their own video(s) because they have so many cool rollercoasters. Each rollercoaster will be accompanied by it’s own song which somewhat matches the name and theme of the ride. For instance a ride called “The Virgin Prostitute” will feature the song “Three Point One Four (Vagina)” by the Bloodhound Gang :D! To accompany the song every rollercoaster will have a title picture related to the ride’s theme (1st and 2nd picture below) and the ride's vital stats listed (3rd picture below). I’ve recorded almost all material for one scenario (Ghost Town), and finished about four ninths of the video, which will have to be divided into two parts since it will be close to 20 minutes long.

OMF 2097: Secret Characters of the Secret Master's Tourney (Part 3) Project

This one was also featured on my Trailershow video. Since then, I’ve managed to record all the material needed and just have to edit them together. But that’s not going to be as easy as on the first and second videos of the series, since this one will have replays, commentary (picture below), reverse angles, zooming in and slow motion. And even one fight where I lose, but am able to get a rematch due to a technicality :o! Stay tuned to find out…

Tomb Raider Matrix Project

The title is just a working title for this project, which will be from the Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary videogame and will feature music from The Matrix. I don’t want to give away too much, but the grand idea is Lara doing all kinds of neat matrix-like stuff (like acrobatics, adrenaline shots etc. – picture below) while music from The Matrix plays in the background. I have tons of raw material recorded, but haven’t started yet since I have plenty of other projects under construction.

Gun Project

For this one I haven’t even figured out a working title, but it's going to be a video about the western videogame called simply “Gun”. Again I have tons of raw video material ready, but haven’t started editing, since I have yet to figure out what the grand idea will be. It’ll probably feature some cool quickdraw kills (picture below) and I have a few western style songs in mind for the music.

Prey Project

From the videogame with the same name (Prey), again no working title yet, but I do have some raw material available. There’s no grand idea yet for this one either and not even any particular song chosen, but the video will probably feature a lot of messing around with gravity, portals and other weird and cool stuff which this very cool game is littered with (picture below).

Prince of Persia – Bad Case of Loving You Project

This one is my newest idea, and as the working title suggests, the music is going to be “Bad Case of Loving You” by Robert Palmer (my newest favorite btw). No video material exists yet, but I’m planning on recording stuff from all three wonderful Prince of Persia Sands of Time series' games. Since I’ve got no material, there’s no snapshot, but instead “Bad Case of Loving You” by Robert Palmer embedded below.

Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and F.E.A.R. Projects

These are two totally separate projects about Dark Messiah of Might & Magic and F.E.A.R., but they are at such similar stages that I decided to list them in one paragraph. For both I have some raw material, no particular music and a vague grand idea. The idea for Dark Messiah is a 300 style video with lots of kicking, since I just love to kick goblins, orcs and such into fires, traps and other stuff :D! But I’m still torn on whether to make it a serious vid or a funny one, but am leaning towards the latter, since then I would be able to use some funny glitch video material I have. The vague idea for F.E.A.R. is also a glitch vid (picture below), but that’s the only idea I’ve got (apart from cool slow-mo shooting and stuff) so that one’s future isn’t looking too bright.

Fahrenheit Boxing Project

This one is going to feature a cutscene from Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy where two of the main characters square off in a friendly boxing match (picture below). The idea is to use the games original music and just add some funny comments. All the material is ready but I haven’t started editing anything yet so this one will have to wait for other projects to be finished. Although I'm not really that sure I can make it funny enough for my own standard of publishing. Time will tell...

Untitled Classic Game Project

This one is about a rare classic strategy game from the 90’s, but I don’t want to give away the name of the game yet. This is another game that I couldn’t record until I discovered HyperCam. The video is probably going to be quite basic by just demonstrating what the game is all about and showcase the various things that can happen each turn when playing single or multiplayer. Even though this game doesn’t require MS-DOS to run, I’m going to post an informative picture about it below :D!

Terminator Project

This is the only Project that isn’t videogame related. I got the idea quite a while ago and have the perfect music in mind, but have no raw material whatsoever, since acquiring that material involves using my digital camera, total darkness and various electronic devices. And the most significant one of those devices (a car actually) was sold some time ago so this project might be doomed. The cool picture below is something that I just googled and am considering as my new desktop background :D!

So there you have it: Lots of info about my upcoming releases and some pics too. I hope this takes some of the waiting anxiety away at least for a while :D! But remember that nothing described here is an absolute promise, except the thing that I said about Stupid Cops 2, and the fact that I will definitely complete the first four projects described in this post, unless I suddenly fall terminally ill or something like that *knocks on wood* :D!

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 8

Eigth in line is the park’s slowest rollercoaster Blackbeard’s Lost Treasure Train, which was built in 1999 and has a whopping maximum speed of 22.4 miles per hour. It has a massive height of 26 feet and it’s 1181 feet long ride takes just over a minute to complete. There is a bright side to the ride’s less intense nature, but I have yet to discover what it is :D! Just kidding! The bright side is that it has extremely short queue times and nowadays completes two circuits around the track.

As seen in the picture above, the train has a total of 20 cars making it one of the longest ones on any rollercoaster. Therefore the ride experience varies a lot depending on where you sit. If we have enough time, we should try riding it at least three times: Once in front, once at the back and once in the middle. But if time is of the essence, then at least this bad boy’s gonna head for the bigger ones B)!

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 7

Like I mentioned last week, next up is the wooden rollercoaster called El Toro, which is Spanish for bull. El Toro opened in 2006 being the park’s newest rollercoaster, and it isn’t a traditional wooden rollercoaster at all. Instead of a chain lift, a cable lift is used to pull the train up the first hill allowing it to be pulled much faster and at a steeper angle. The ride doesn’t rattle and shake like traditional wooden rollercoasters, but is modernly smooth like most steel rollercoasters. Despite of its smoothness, El Toro is no dull ride. Instead its one of the world’s fastest, tallest and steepest wooden rollercoasters. It climbs up to 181 feet, plummets down 176 feet in a 76 degree sometimes reaching a max speed of up to 75 miles per hour.

El Toro is also known for extreme air-time, where the rides feel weightless due to negative g-forces, and for its several headchoppers present when it swerves around itself and Rolling Thunder. Due to the extreme air-time, El Toro has a much stricter policy regarding lap restraints and thus the waist size of passengers. Luckily a test seat is located near, where "guests of exceptional size" or nowadays more politically correctly "guests of unique body shapes" (I lost my poker face big time while reading that :D) can test whether they meet the requirements. All things considered I think El Toro is going to be one of my favorites, even though it doesn’t have any inversions. The truth might be just like the guy on the embedded video says: It’s almost even better than… sexual intercourse! (With a one-armed leprechaun :D) I can hardly wait =)!

Friday, March 7, 2008

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 6

In order to introduce all the rollercoasters of Six Flags Great Adventure, from now on every other time I’m going to have to focus on one of the slower less intense rollercoaster. But a bit of variance is always better, and I don’t want to cram them all at the end, because that spot is reserved for a brand new rollercoaster that’s going to open at the end of April. Therefore next on the list is the park’s first ever rollercoaster the Runaway Mine Train (picture below), which opened in 1974 . Kingda Ka, Rolling Thunder (white) and El Toro (under construction), which is up next week, can be seen in the background.

Runaway Mine Train’s height of 60 feet might not scare everyone, and its steepest incline is only 20 degrees, but it still manages to reach a top speed of 38 miles per hour. 2665 feet of steel track goes by in two minutes, including a stretch very close to the surface of a small lake (as seen in the picture). One mustn’t forget that usually the good side of such not-so-popular rides is that you might be able to ride it many times over without even exiting in between =).

Friday, February 29, 2008

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 5

Next up is the Great American Scream Machine (GASM for short), which is a steel corkscrew rollercoaster built in 1989. When it opened it was the world’s tallest rollercoaster for a whole month. GASM rises up to 173 feet and drops down 155 feet reaching a top speed of 68 miles per hour. The ride length is 3800 feet and ride time 2:20 so one could consider it a larger, faster and more complex version of the Korkkiruuvi (Finnish for corkscrew) rollercoaster in Särkänniemi amusement park in Finland. In addition to the two corkscrews found on Korkkiruuvi, GASM has three vertical loops and one batwing a.k.a. boomerang double loop (the opposite of a cobra roll) making the total number of inversion seven, which is the same as with Medusa.

GASM’s track and trains are of course colored to match the American flag, and the trains are named accordingly: Freedom, Liberty and Spirit. Even without such patriotism I’m sure I will be engulfed in a spirit of great Americanism :D, since no rollercoaster in Finland comes even close to what GASM has to offer :(. All the more reason to be exited about our upcoming trip and all the more memorable it’s going be =)! Perhaps even an orGASMic experience, LOL!

Yet another Video from Sid Meier's Space Strategy Franchise

I’m of course talking about the series that includes the totally superb strategy game Alpha Centauri (I gave it 9.4 out of 10) and it’s great expansion pack Alien Crossfire (8.7 out of 10). Over the course of the almost two years that I’ve been a Youtuber, I’ve been uploading videos from both these great games. I started off with their introduction videos and made my way through the secret project videos of Alpha Centauri and its expansion pack. After a while I uploaded two requested videos: What happens when you loose the game if a rival faction transcends before you, and a video introducing The New Factions of Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire. All except the last one are included in the embedded playlist below.

If you're having problems with the first video (Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri Intro) you can download it from FileFront using the link below.

Alpha Centauri Intro
Until a fellow Youtuber mentioned it on a comment, I had totally forgotten about another ending video, so now I’m honored to present Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire: Progenitor Victory embedded below along with its description.

This is what happens in the strategy PC videogame expansion pack Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire when either of the alien (Progenitor) races achieves a Progenitor victory by completing the Resonance Communicator. It's comprised of 6 Subspace Generators (Required tech: Singularity Mechanics) constructed in 6 bases of at least size 10. The Resonance Communicator allows the alien faction to send signals to their home fleets in a far distant portion of the galaxy. The power of these fleets is well beyond the combined abilities of all the humans on the Planet to combat, so when communication occurs and the fleets arrive, the humans (and the other Progenitor faction) must capitulate.

The Progenitor victory videos for the Carertakers and Usurpers are exactly the same, except for the color of the arriving fleet. Even so I put both in one vid so anyone can't complain about leaving either one out. Enjoy =)!

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 4

The next rollercoaster’s name is very accurate, at least if you suffer from a heart disease, since after riding it you’ll probably need to take some nitroglycerin pills to stay alive :D! When built in 2001, Nitro was the east coast’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster until Kingda Ka was built four years later. Nitro climbs up to 230 feet and then plummets 215 feet in a 66 degree angle gaining a speed of 80 miles per hour, wow!
And that’s not all. Unlike Kingda Ka, Nitro isn’t a short ride with just a couple of drops, but instead a full blown rollercoaster with a length of almost 5400 feet and ride time of more than two minutes. Because it doesn’t have any inversions, Nitro can use simpler lap restraints to make the ride even more intense when dealing with up to 4 G’s of down force. An on-ride photo is taken at the bottom of the first drop, and on a clear night the skyline of Philadelphia can be seen from a few tall points even though it’s 50 miles away. The stars of the first embedded video must be somehow related to MatoApina, since they make noise just like us on the second one :D!

Darth Vader Just Got Owned!

The title is one part o fthe title of my newest self-made video. The whole title is Star Wars Battlefront: Darth Vader Just Got Owned!, so it’s from Star Wars Battlefront (d'uh :D), which I got just a few weeks ago. This vid is more spontaneous than planned, because it's the result of me testing the the Gamecam recording software for the first time.

Like the video’s Star Wars style prelude text says, I was fooling around and not playing too seriously, when suddenly I got into a duel with Darth Vader himself (AI controlled one of course :P). I added some funny comments (so a sense of humor is a must), Star Wars music and prelude text, and tested some cool special effect offered by the Sony Vegas editing software (screenshot above), so the vid wouldn’t be something any jerk with Gamecam, Fraps etc. could do :D! So it’s nothing that special or planned, but a lot of effort did go into it so I hope you enjoy =)!

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 3

Next we have a traditional wooden rollercoaster called Rolling Thunder. It’s sort of a bigger version of this rollercoaster in the Linnanmäki amusement park, since it goes faster, higher and stronger by rising nearly a hundred feet in the air plummeting 85 feet down reaching a top speed of 56 miles per hour.
Besides the shape, one of the biggest differences between the two is that Rolling Thunder doesn’t have an old school braking system, where a park employee known as the “brakeman” rides in the train and uses the train’s own brakes to smoothen the ride. While Rolling Thunder is only 50 feet longer, another significant difference compared to most rollercoasters, is that it has two tracks running alongside each other the whole time, only slightly varying in vertical inclines. If the queuing system allows it, we should definitely try to get on both the dueling trains at the same time, and videotape each other “speeding” by in the other train :D! Conveniently videos from both tracks can be found at YouTube and embedded below.

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 2

This week’s rollercoaster introduction is for the the world’s first floorless rollercoaster, the twisting steel rollercoaster called Medusa, which was built in 1999 an has a total of seven inversions! At least three of them are visible in the picture below. The picture is dominated by a cobra roll, which means two half loops combined by two half corkscrews, thus making the track do a 180 degree turn back to the way it came.

A similar cobra element can be found on the Tornado rollercoaster in Särkänniemi amusement park in Finland, but as the Finnish saying goes: “Everything is bigger in America”, that cobra roll is probably at least half the size of the one on Medusa! The queue line for the Medusa begins under the cobra roll, and the on-ride camera is attached to the Medusa sign, so in order to get a goofy on-ride photo, we have to remember to make funny faces at that spot :D! The Medusa is most definitely going to be an aweosme and wild ride, since it sores to a height of 142 feet and has a top speed of 61 miles per hour. It’s length is close to 4000 feet and the ride time is more than two minutes, which is quite a lot compared to many rollercoasters in Finland, FUCK YEAH =)!

Six Flags Great Adventure Rollercoaster Introduction: Part 1

Me and my MatoApina friends are planning a tourist trip to New York this summer, and my travel fever is getting pretty high although it’s still at least six months away. Therefore I decided to start a series introducing every rollercoaster in Six Flags Great Adventure, where we are planning to spend at least one day of our trip. What better way to spread the fever :D, than to tell some facts of each of the awesome rollercoaster there and embed a point-of-view video from YouTube? I’m going to start from the tallest, fastest and probably most intense one of them all, the world record holding rollercoaster called Kingda Ka (picture below).

It holds the current world record for the world’s fastest and tallest rollercoaster! It accelerates from 0 to 128 miles per hour using hydraulic motors in a mere 3.5 seconds and rises vertically to a whopping 456 feet. In other words: HOLY FUCKING SHIT what a ride it’s gonna be!!! You don’t experience someting like that every day, so I can hardly wait for it =)!

GAME OVER!

I have four new awesome favorite videos and a new subscription! It all started a while ago when I watched this featured Human Tetris video and loved it. Well yesterday I noticed that they (notsonoisy) had made three other truly awesome human pixel animation game videos: Human Pong, Human Space Invaders and Human Pole Position. The sound effects are so hilarious, just like in the Human Tetris video. Especially the Human Pong vid cracks me up since the only sound effect is “mep” :D! The Space invaders is also very true to it’s original with the unbelievably monotone music :D! The best of the bunch is definitely the Pole Position vid, since it has so much going on at the same time: Several different sound effects, day and night lighting changes, a swerving track, oncoming traffic and of course the player's car. It really amazing how they put all that together using just an auditorium and human beings as the graphics and sound effects! This is exactly what YouTube is all about in my opinion: Making big ass crazy but really cool and awesome projects that you wanna share with the world. Not some stupid adolescent crybaby making an ass of himself by crying in public about how people are mean to some lonelygirl69 or whatever the hell her name is. I made a playlist for all the Game Over project videos which is embedded below, and am going to add all future videos to it, which I really hope there will be someday. Enjoy =)!

NZXT Hush!

I’ve been looking for a new fairly cheap desktop computer mid-tower case for a while now to replace my two and a half year old trusty but heavy and a bit noisy ThermalRock Dragon. A few days ago I ran into the NZXT Hush, and ultra silent and sleek looking case (picture below), which sounded very convincing in theory.

After reading dozens of reviews of Hush and other mid-tower cases like the Thermaltake Armor Junior, I was torn on which case I should buy. Then YouTube and 3DGAMEMAN came to the rescue, when I found this great video review of the NZXT Hush case. The bloopers in the end (and in most of 3DGAMEMAN’s great videos) are hilarious :D!

Hearing the quietness with my own ears really convinced me that the Hush was the way to go, so I put in an order at Jimm’s PC-Store on Sunday. On Monday the stock amount had gone from six to negative five, so I though I would have to wait for it for a few weeks. Today to my surprise I got an email from Jimm’s saying that my order can be picked up from their store in shopping center Arabia. So tomorrow I’m getting a brand new computer case, FUCK YEAH =)! First I’m gonna test it with my old components (ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, Athlon 64 3500+, 1 GB ram, 2xMSI 6600GT 128 MB, Levicom Visible Power 450W), to see how well it performs and so I don’t have to use my parents laptop to go online while my new PC (ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus, Core 2 Duo E6550, 2 GB ram, 2xASUS 8600GT Silent 512 MB, FSP Epsilon FX600-GLN 600W) is down for the upgrade. So I have some good times ahead, since I like playing with computer hardware, I'll have a backup PC excellent for LAN gaming with friends, and my new PC will probably be noticeably quieter and less heavy, yay!

Welcome To My New Blog!

Hello hello! Today I decided to start a new blog in English, contrary to my Finnish blog. This one will differ in content too, because I’m dedicating this blog to all kinds of YouTube related stuff. I’m going to blog things like videos I’ve posted, new video posts, sneak peaks and/or trailers of my upcoming videos, new ideas for my videos, new and old favorites which I want to share etc. My pace probably isn’t going to be daily, weekly, or maybe even monthly, because I’ve just started studying computer science at Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia and also tend to my Finnish blog from time to time, so making new videos will be slow... just bare with me. Most of my videos (picture below) take a lot of work so don’t expect to see a new video right after I’ve announced a new idea or released some sneak peaks or a trailer.
My 20 most viewed videos, of which eleven are self made.

To kick things off I’m going to blog about a new favorite video related to purchasing computer hardware, but first take note on the poll located below my profile on the right. It’s about my newest video The Chronicles of Riddick: Darkness... You Afraid?, which is embedded below along with it’s description. Below the poll, which I aim to change at least monthly, are among others links to my YouTube channel, videos, favorites, playlists, and my FileFront page where you can easily download many of my videos in high quality. Continuing downward, you’ll see my blog archive, from where you can easily jump to any post. As time passes I will probably also construct some kind of appendixes to furthermore make finding stuff easier. Next is the label list. Clicking on one of the labels will bring up all posts labeled with that label, in chronological order. Below the label list I might add some new features from time to time.

Well, that’s all for now. Hope you enjoy my YouTube blog and videos. Feel free to comment on my posts and videos here (by clicking the 0 comment(s) link below each post) and/or at Youtube. Hopefully I’ll see you there =)!

Music: "Mitternacht" by E Nomine
Capture program: Fraps
Editing programs: Windows Movie Maker & Sony Vegas 7.0
Quality settings used: 640x480 2.1 Mbps

This is my third video form the Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay - Developer's Cut. It's a kind of music video (just like the previous ones) and is supposed to present other cool stuff from the game than sneaking, backstabing and hand-to-hand combat like my first two Riddick videos. So I hope you enjoy watching among others some great cinematics, an alien invasion, minigun action, mech battles and much more =)!
